Svantek SVAN 971 Compact Type 1 Sound Level Meter (SLM)
The new SVAN 971 sound analyzer is a full specification real time third octave analyzer yet packs a tremendous punch for its size and weight. The slim design is less than 1 inch (20 mm) thin and houses a fully specified Type 1 audio analyzer and sound level meter that can be used for hand held surveys and, thanks to its comprehensive data logging ability, is a powerful environmental noise monitor too.
The SVAN 971 features the benefits of dual sampling intervals for 2 sets of periodic data storage. A main set of Summary Results stores all the calculated parameters with a second shorter Time History set of 4 key parameters saved as fast as 100 millisec allow all the detail to be seen in a typical survey. SR data can be set at 5 minute intervals while the TH results are saved every 1 second to show clearly and concisely what occurred during a run.
The SVAN 971 calculates the ongoing LDN and LDEN overall values plus up to 10 LN% values making the meter an ideal choice for comprehensive site surveys for land use suitability for DOT and HUD applications. Three user configurable measurement Profiles enable the user to store three parallel sets of results with different frequency and time weightings for maximum flexibility.
A particularly useful feature in the SVAN 971 is the ability to tag a recording with a voice note at the start (or end) of a measurement to annotate what is happening on site. This eliminates the need for a pen and paper note that may get separated from the recorded data and the voice note stays with the data set after download to the included SvanPC software.
Weighing only 0.5 lb (225 g) the SVAN 971 is a shirt pocket sized analyzer yet it provides the user with a powerful tool for many forms of workplace and environmental measurements. Two modes called Simple and Advanced do just as their names suggest and allow the user to make basic measurements or unleash the full power of the SVAN 971 for even the toughest task.
